This page gives step-by-step instructions on how to upload a video to the Villain Song Wiki. Videos are required for all pages; pages without videos will be marked for cleanup and deleted if not fixed. If there are questions regarding video quality, availability, appropriateness, etc., please reach out to an administrator BEFORE creating the page.
Step 1: Get the Video[]
Find the video that you would like to add. Ensure it is of the best quality possible. YouTube is the best source for videos.
Step 2: Get the Video URL[]
Get the video's FULL URL. Copy it from the URL bar at the top of the webpage.
Step 3: Go to the New Files page[]
Go to the Villain Song Wiki and go to the tab named "Explore". On the dropdown, click either "Videos" or "Images" (they lead to the same place following the last MediaWiki update) OR search for Special:NewFiles. Here you will be able to view all the most recent uploads to the wiki.
Step 4: Upload Video[]
Click on the button that reads "Add a Video".
In the popup that appears, paste the FULL video URL in the space provided and click "Add". Your video is now added to the wiki's files. You may refresh or return to the New Files page to view it.
Step 5: Add the Video to a Wiki Page[]
When creating a wiki page with the correct format (see here), in the infobox template section called "video", be sure to paste/add the video's TITLE in the section. The File: prefix is not needed. DO NOT ADD THE VIDEO'S URL HERE, IT WILL NOT WORK.
