"Monkey See, Monkey Do" is a deleted song from Disney's 1967 animated film The Jungle Book. It would have featured the Bandar-log gloating about themselves. The song was written by Terry Gilkyson, and was deleted along with the rest of his songs when the Sherman Brothers rewrote the music (save for "The Bare Necessities").
The song was performed by a chorus.
Lyrics[]
Monkey see, monkey do
Everything much better than you
Deedle-ee (deedle-ee), doodle-oo
Monkey see, monkey do
Come admire us, little frog
We're the famous Bandar-log
No one else can ever be
Handsome, smart and quick as we
Toodle-loo (toodle-loo), teedle-lee
Handsome, smart and quick as we
Monkey see, monkey do
Everything much better than you
Teedle-ee (teedle-ee), toodle-oo
Monkey see, monkey do
Silken hair and polished nails
We're well-groomed from head to tails
Manners come with grace and ease
As we share each other's fleas
Toodle-oo (toodle-oo), Teedle-lee
As we share each other's fleas
Monkey see, monkey do
Everything much better than you
Teedlel-ee (teedlel-ee), Toodle-loo
Monkey see, monkey do
Brains and beauty never fail
Who but us hangs by the tail
Noted for our repartee...
[Say, you know why monkeys are good looking?]
[No, why?]
[Because they look like me.]
Famous for our modesty
Toodle-loo (toodle-loo), Teedle-lee
Famous for our modesty
Onward, upward, we won't stop
Till we've reached the very top
We've led every beast and man
[Man? Don't tell me this is a man! Well!]
We were here when man began
Toodle-loo (toodle-loo), Teedle-lam
We were here when man began
Monkey see, monkey do
Everything much better than you
Teedle-lee (teedle-lee), Toodle-loo
Monkey see, monkey do
Teedle-lee (teedle-lee), Toodle-loo
Monkey see, monkey do
